My name is Caroline and I have been studying in Psychology for three years. My glossary is for anyone who need specifications on certain terms used in Psychology. You will find below a list of ten words related to this field of study and their definitions. You can also find a translation in French, an example and an audio pronunciation. - anxiety
- noun
- A nervous disorder characterized by a state of excessive uneasiness and apprehension, typically with compulsive behavior or panic attacks.
- Example: My mom did not talk to me for two days and because of that she has anxiety, and she is worried.

- noun
- The way in which one acts or conducts oneself, especially toward others.
- Example: If you do not have a good behavior, you will not eat dessert.

- depression
- noun
- A mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies.

- Example: Doing exercise is good for your mental health.

- A person receiving or registered to receive medical treatment.
- Example: Many patients were waiting to see the doctor.

- noun
- The human soul, mind, or spirit.
- Example: Their childhood made them want to understand the human psyche and to help others.

- noun
- A medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
- Example: She has to see a psychiatrist because they are the only people who can give medication that can help with depression.

- A person who specializes in the study of mind and behavior or in the treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
- Example: My sister has depression and anxiety and when she talks to her psychologist she always feel better.
